The Cycle I Knew All Too Well...
I paid off $17,000 in student loans in under a year. I thought that would bring peace, but I was left with no emergency fund. No credit card. No financial safety net.
At the time, I believed all debt was bad—and that the only thing to do was pay off those loans as soon as possible. I focused all my energy on getting rid of the loans, even while making big purchases like a $3,000 tenor saxophone. I couldn’t imagine waiting to have the things I truly wanted.
On the outside, I looked like I was doing well. But the truth? I was already running on empty.

Chasing Success vs. Feeling Secure
For a while, it really looked like I was doing well.
I had just moved into a new apartment in Toronto, was earning more than I ever had, and had finally saved enough to buy one of my dream instruments — a $6,000 baritone saxophone. It felt like a major milestone.
But I had spent every last dollar to make it happen. I didn’t even have an emergency fund to fall back on. I was still petrified of credit cards and believed all debt was bad — and I thought that if I could just save enough, I’d feel secure.
But the truth was: I was stuck in a loop. I’d build my savings, spend it, feel guilty, and start over again — with no real system or strategy in place.
I was chasing success, but I didn’t understand financial security. I had the desire and the drive, but I was exhausted from constantly trying to figure it all out alone.
Eventually, I opened a few credit cards — telling myself I’d be responsible — but without a system or a real understanding of how to manage them, I found myself in a different kind of cycle.

The Turning Point
I started working in the service industry, and was making more money than I ever had before—but I still felt like I had nothing to show for it.
I was investing without a plan, carrying credit card balances I swore I’d never have, and constantly telling myself I’d “do better next month.”
I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. I thought I just needed more discipline.
It’s kind of funny when I look back now… but it all started with TikTok.
I stumbled across a personal finance creator that introduced money in a totally different way—rather than shame and restriction, it was about positive money mindset, setting SMART goals with a strong "why", and values-aligned spending. I was hooked.
I started following money coaches and personal development creators who were talking about money like a skill that could be learned—not just a perpetual cycle of shame, scarcity, and guilt.
That shift in perspective changed everything.
I realized I wasn’t failing. I just hadn’t been taught a system that worked for me.

everything I thought I knew about money ❞

From Mindset Work to Rich Reality
Working on my money mindset changed everything.
I started journaling, working with positive affirmations, and rewiring the beliefs that had kept me stuck for so long. I finally began to see money as a tool, and something I was capable of feeling in control of.
I built real systems that supported me, learned how to spend in a way that reflected my values, set goals, and broke them down into manageable pieces — and most importantly, I started showing up differently. With more trust. More clarity. More peace.
I realized that money wasn’t just about spreadsheets or discipline. It was about the stories I’d been telling myself, and the ones I was ready to rewrite.
And that’s exactly what inspired Rich Reality — a business built on the belief that when you change your mindset, you change what’s possible.
Today, I coach others through the same kind of transformation — helping you break the cycle of shame and stress, and step into your own version of financial freedom.
One mindset shift at a time.
